Welcome
An Emmy Award winning TV journalist, program host, actor and entrepreneur, Holbrook has been wandering through America’s media landscape for more than 30 years, most of that time as the main anchor at five terribly important TV stations, including ones in Boston and New York City, not to mention Tulsa, Reno, Albany and Decatur.
Since 2009 Holbrook has played Jim Haggerty on The Onion News Network’s web and TV episodes of “Today NOW!” (a parody morning TV show). For the role, Holbrook draws on his deep understanding of how ridiculous TV news often is. While we don’t know what the actor Ben Stiller thinks of Holbrook as a legit TV anchorman, Stiller did tweet that Holbrook was “the funniest fake news anchor I have ever seen!” The Onion's 8 part "reality" series, Porkin' Across America with Jim Haggerty remains the highest rated entertainment vehicle devoted to Jim Haggerty eating pork. Before the Onion, Holbrook proudly defended America’s Right To Know as a legit newsman in stations large and small around the country. He also produced and hosted the weekly show “Tennis Television” for five years in the ‘90’s. And he specialized in consumer and financial news as host and reporter for “BusinessWeek TV”, a nationally syndicated show for four years, through early 2008, a time referred to in the business world as “the beginning of the end”. Just as it was for "BusinessWeek TV". R.I.P. As an actor, Holbrook has appeared in several major motion pictures including The Manchurian Candidate, I Am Legend, The International and Power as well as several independent films. He has been featured on several episodes of Law & Order SVU, and Criminal Intent, and even performed as a doctor (twice!) on Days of Our Lives. He was unable to save the show’s life. In January 2014 Holbrook played real-life preacher-turned-murderer David Love in the popular recreation crime series REDRUM on the ID channel. Shot his friend in the face and then gave the eulogy! Try as they might, the Onion writers can't top that. He also has a long list of credits on the New York stage, mostly in boxy black-walled rooms with impeded views, but also in larger houses, including at least one Off Broadway venue. Dreams of performing in a Broadway musical are likely to go unrealized, at least partially because he is not qualified. Holbrook is founder and CEO of the boutique video production studio ActorIntro, which specializes in creating video marketing tools for actors and others who are needy of attention. It's also the absolute best, and lowest priced, self-tape service in NYC. In January 2015, ActorIntro acquired ActorsInsite, a feedback/networking on-line service for actors, where demo reels are reviewed by top industry professionals. Holbrook does not engage with social media, so if you've sent him an invitation or something from Facebook, Twitter or Linked In, he hopes you won't be offended not to hear back. Member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors' Equity. |
